An Evangelical Church in the Heart of Thatcham

Just so…daily!

Being just into the New Year, whether we would admit it or not, many of us entertain high hopes. Getting that better job, falling pregnant, finding a soulmate or maybe that project we’ve got on the horizon that should yield up wholesale satisfaction when it’s all completed.

It certainly is no bad thing to have hopes, aspirations, dreams and personal plans, after all we’ve no doubt heard the saying that “he who fails to plan plans to fail!”

A Christian singer by the name of Rich Mullins wrote what became a #1 hit song with the title “Step by step” and speaking about this song he reflected saying: “The biggest problem with life is that it’s just so…daily! But every day we have the chance to make the right choices, one at a time, step by step.”

Between the various aspirational high points of our year the reality is that there are an awful lot of run of the mill days to get through. This is usually where our real problem lies, as Mullins says: “it’s just so…daily!”

So any solution to our “daily” problem? Well I am helped by a pastor, who in the second week of 2019 has had to face up to the impending loss of his young wife, he says: “Megan would want me to talk about her healing, but even more she would want me to talk about the miracles we see every day (and forget) to the glory of God.”

The truth is that God is surely in the every day. The Bible tells us: ” Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.” (Proverbs 8 Verse 34)

Perhaps your great achievement in 2019 will be transforming your every day by watching at His doors and beholding His regular-style wonders.
